Save the Electric Theatre

Save the Electric Theatre for generations to come

This much-loved, landmark venue in Guildford opened in 1997 after campaigning and financial investment by GATA. It is now closed and its future hangs in the balance.

The Electric Theatre has been at the heart of Guildford’s cultural life for nearly three decades. It provides a dedicated space capable of hosting a full theatrical experience for local community performers and audiences.

  1. Keep the Electric Theatre as a theatre for community use
  2. Ensure amateur theatre plays a key role alongside professional productions and other local arts
  3. Guarantee long-term commitment to the support, upkeep and maintenance of the site

Why this matters

Without the Electric Theatre, amateur theatre in Guildford loses its home — a fully equipped, mid-scale venue capable of supporting the full ambitions of community performers. The venue was built on the back of GATA’s earlier campaigning, and the current threat to its future is one we take very seriously.

If you care about live theatre in Guildford — whether as a performer, audience member, or simply a resident who values community culture — please add your voice.
